Flores Del Cafe Women’s Fund Project: This coffee, Flores Del Cafe, has an extra premium used to help women get a legal title for their land. These titles enable women to get access to credit and loans.

This coffee produced exclusively by women is the key to our small farmers association’s goal to improve the quality of life for the member’s families. In Jinotega women only have 15% of the land titles, with are fundamental to access micro credits and loans for production and other economic activities. Our objective is for these families to develop steady sources of inceome. This changes the whole dynamic ininheritance, since traditionally the father is the one to leave the land to be divided amongs his sons. It is a small change that requires an educational component so those husbands can understand the advantage of letting their wives have have access to different resources and contribute to the family’s quality of life.
