In the central part of the country, you can find the Escambray range of the extensive hillsides and plateaus. The legend calles it ‘Crystal Mountain‘ because it contains soils with mica and quartz crystals. Among these hills you can find many of the most beautiful coffee plantatations.

The farms in the highest plains have been selected to be renewed and improved. They benefit from year around mild temperatures and frequent rainfall. The farmers produce good coffee beans that can face the market`s high demands.

The country`s coffee plantation are kept under protective shade of leguminous, local trees, such as Ingas, Eryhnias and Leucaenas.

Coffee plants in Cuba are not usually affected by plagues. Still, farmers have been tought the correct utilization of agrochemicals. Throgh seminars and workshops they learn how to keep their coffee plants healthy and how to conserve and protects the environment.
